After much research into the best style of curriculum for our pupils, the curriculum at St Peter’s School uses ‘Curriulum Maestro’ and focuses on termly projects. Using the children's ideas, the learning and experiences are planned within each project.
All projects start with a 'WOW' day to engage the children and hook them in with a memorable experience. ‘WOW’ days help to set the scene and provide the context for the topic as well as provoking thought, interest and curiosity. As projects progress, children have opportunities to develop depth of understanding, learn new skills and are provided with creative opportunities for making and doing.
Over the course of the year children across the school will take part in a range of trips linked to their curriculum work and benefit from visitors coming into school. In addition, over the course of the year, we may hold theme days and weeks to enrich the curriculum. During these days and weeks children may, for example, work in mixed age groups with an artist in residence or a children's book author, or they could spend an exciting day learning in the woods.
